Zac on “Footloose”
Don’t mind me, I’ll let the man get to it…
“I’m sure Footloose would have been a huge challenge,” Efron said, “but the actors that I love and the actors that work really hard in this industry are always shaking things up, trying new genres, acquiring new skill sets. That’s what’s always going to appeal to me: the unknown.”

17 Again’s director Burr Steers paints a more detailed picture: “Zac’s fans knew pretty much every detail of our shooting schedule. Just getting him to the set each day involved a number of decoy vehicles and look-alikes. It was an incredible operation of almost presidential proportions, and at the centre of it all you have Zac, who managed to remain unbelievably normal.” But Steers insists it was all worthwhile. “Put a camera in front of him, and he pretty much lights up. Getting Zac Efron to star in your film is the equivalent of winning the lottery.”
UM…BURR WASN’T TALKING ABOUT US WAS HE AUDREY???

Well said, Zachary.
I think this statement importantly notes that his decision isn’t necessarily reflective of his opinion of the project itself, but rather just its compatibility with him at this point in his career. It also just further affirms that his decisions are intelligent and thought out and on the basic of a carefully constructed logic as well as his instinctive, gut feelings about a project.

This just goes to show everyone that he truly has a good head on his shoulders. I love what Burr said about him. Yes, the fans are crazy but Zac just wants to work and be the best he can be. I think that he finally realized that Footlose wouldn’t challenge him at all. And with the St. Cloud, which I still need to find at the bookstore lol, it seems like someone thing that can challenge his way of acting. He will be playing someone who has been through a lot at a young age. To me thats a lot better than being stuck in a small town where you have to dance like crazy in a train yard.
Oh, Auds thats too cute!! 17 again is everywhere here on the TV!! I see ads like every couple of minutes. They are promoting this movie like crazy!

“To me thats a lot better than being stuck in a small town where you have to dance like crazy in a train yard.”–Kristen! That would have been one of the best scenes in the movie. haha
You know, even though I completely respect Zac’s decision and I’m looking forward to his other roles and I agree with all the intelligent comments people have made here about his decision, the musical lover in me and the Footloose fan in me still feels
. I can’t deny that I’m disappointed. I’ll always love ya Zac, but I was looking forward to this movie.
