Wow I still can’t believe I saw this movie last night. I feel like it was this rollercoaster of emotions finally coming to an end. This movie ultimately brought Audrey and I together, the whole it’s coming out in August nope just kidding you have to wait until April. What? I really thought New Line/WB were trying to kill me. But it was definitely worth the wait. First off let me start by saying that I’m so proud of Zac. I love watching him on screen. He has that true movie star presence that you are drawn in by his charm. You can’t help but look at him and think movie star. Secondly I thought the movie was so much fun. Yeah it’s not going to win any Oscars. But it was so enjoyable and I thought the pace was great. Not once was I like is this over yet? If anything I was sad to see it end. I thought everyone was so well cast in this movie. Tom, of course, was amazing. I loved the chemistry between Zac and Leslie. And Sterling and Michelle were also super. I definitely had a ton of favorite parts, but my absolute favorite was the scene between Zac and Michelle on the bleachers. I loved how real it felt and went to laugh out loud without missing a beat. Audrey and I commented about how excited we are to see Zac expand his acting range. So looking forward to Me and Orson Welles and after reading The Life and Death of Charlie St. Cloud I’m really excited to see Zac play a very emotional character. Overall Bravo Zac!!!

Congrats to both the cast & crew of “17 Again”- the final culmination of their hard work sparkles onscreen. There’s of course many memorable quotes and scenes, but overall this film proved to be much deeper than the cliche “Freaky-Friday” switch-a-roo. There was a story and a genuine heart, in which Zac brought so much to the table with his wide range of emotions (His facial expressions? SOLID).
As Dee said, he commands a screen. You aren’t looking anywhere else when Mike’s in a scene- there’s great potential for Zac to be a leading man.
I’m really looking forward to hearing all your thoughts! As I was leaving the theater I made the comment that I hadn’t just watched “17 Again”, I had experienced “17 Again”.
April 17th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
i saw this movie last week and today and i love it!
zac was so convincing as a dad and i agree Audrey – his facial expressions were just WOW. i cried when he cried, i was literally going ‘awww’ in the first scene and i love how the last scene reminded us of the first. i can go on for ages about the scenes i like but i’ll say one thats in my head right now. – i love the scene were Ned and ‘Mark’ went to the principle office for the first time and Ned said “I think our hands just made a baby” LOL. and when he said “Mark’s a bastard” haha, lol. i can go on but i just loved those lines. Tom Lennon did an awesome job. But overall, I can see Zac’s career expand and grow so much that I can’t contain my excitement.
April 17th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
OMG That movie was so amazing!
It was wayyy funnier than i thought it would be… i couldnt stop laughing.
OH! When Zac was crying in part of the movie i was like wow this guy is one of the greatest actors alive. That was my favorite part of the movie.
LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!
April 17th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
I am going tonight to go see it again because I totally want that fresh just walked out excited feeling that all of you guys are going to be having!
I agree with everything that has been said… this movie has been a long time coming for both us AND Zac. Back looking at his work in Miracle Run and particular scenes during Summerland and The Derby Stallion – from back then, this guy was born to be a star and this truly was, as he has so eloquently learned to phrase it to answer in every interview – the perfect transitional piece into work of a different nature.
There’s so many favourite moments… dancing with Scarlet and Alex’s reaction and the subequent ‘douche’ scene with Scarlet’s date. The courtroom scene, of course, will always always be epic. The bleacher scene surprised me in that I loved it because I was so worried about that falling flat but it totally didn’t. Randomly I thought the sex ed class was hilariously awkward if a bit random and ridiculous. I could list a dozen other little things that cracked me up.
I was surprised as usual with some of the editing in contrast to the trailer – so many moments that were cut that I would love to have seen but fingers crossed for an awesome DVD release down the road!
Zac Efron is the future. Word.
April 17th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
I concur with all of you….Zac was fabulous! This was a hilarious movie. Tom Lennon was so stinkin’ funny.
And Zac really showed great range as an actor!! He was funny and totally channeled Matthew Perry. Oh yeah, and way to take one for the team……dang, he got slapped so many times. Ouch!

Omg i saw 17 Again a few hours ago and it was ah-mazing! Zac was really good @ playing a dad.
April 17th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
So, this was fantastic. It was so great. After it was over I felt like running to Cali and just shake Zac’s hand and say “Congratulations Mr. Efron, you’ve done it again.” It was hilarious and it will definitely become another addition to my DVD collection!
I can’t wait to continue to watch his acting career grow. This movie is definitely going to get him places. Daddy Efron anyone?
April 17th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
I absolutely love this movie!!! It’s so much fun and there’s so heart in it. Zac is absolutely wonderful.

17 again was a lot of fun to watch despite the awkward moments; reminded me of Freaky Friday
April 18th, 2009 at 6:34 am
Last night i came home from school and found out that we were going to see 17 Again and i was so excited, my aunt came with although see didnt care to see it but when the movie was over she said that she totally changed her mind:) I don’t even know where to start… i was surprised at the range of ages @ the theatre and that there was quite a few males. The 1st was a hott start to the movie. There were so many great parts in the movie my faves where the bedroom scene with maggie, the line of ppl slapping mike/zac, consoling maggie on the bleachers, the fight between ned and mike and the courtroom scene(which made me cry) the part at the bowling alley: “its my birthday” “oh i’sorry i didnt bring a present” “well then we’ll just have to unwrap you” Overall the movie was sweet and funnymy face hurt from laughing. I love zac even more(if thats possible) after seeing his talent in this movie and the rest of the cast did amazing

I think I’ve never have been waiting for a movie with so much longing as for 17 Again. Even not that much for HSM 3.
And it was most definitely worth the wait.
Actually, it doesn’t start here until the 23th, but me and my friend managed to get tickets to a preview screening. The cinema was nearly empty though, but I think a lot of people didn’t know about the screening.
For me, Tom Lennon really stole the show. Ned was so hilarious and such a nerd, I loved it. Leslie Mann really made my high expectations of her performance as Scarlett come true and Michelle Trachtenberg did a great job with Maggie (though I already thought she would, she is amazing as Georgina on Gossip Girl). Sterling Knight played so awkward, which was a perfect fit for Alex. Matthew Perry was a great pick for the part of old Mike, though I don’t really see the resemblance he and Zac have in looks. And Zac… oh, boy, Zac. I knew he had potential, but I never have been so impressed by this guy. I hope this guy is going to come far in Hollywood, because he deserves it so, so much.
I think I was mostly impressed by the court scene. I loved how it was so emotional and romantic in a comedy. The scene fitted well and Zac’s acting was so good. I seriously wanted to jump into the screen and comfort him.

I’m thrilled this movie was #1 last night. Zac totally deserves it. I hope he’s feeling very proud of himself today. It was playing in two theaters in the complex I went to and the showing I wanted to go to was sold out already and the one I ended up going to sold out also. I was happy to see I wasn’t the only one up for some Zac last night.
I was also happy to see the variety of people at the movie. Lots of teenage girls, but lots of women in their 40′s and 50′s, Dad’s with their kids and even a group of 10-11 year old boys. It was great. I loved how much everyone there completely enjoyed the movie–everyone. The whole theater was laughing like crazy, grossing out over the sandwich, ‘ewwww’ing over the close encounters with his daughters, gasping together in parts, ‘awwwww’ing together in other parts. It really was a tonne of fun to go to.
I can’t even pick a favorite funny part, there were just too many. All day my son’s been like, remember this funny part and remember when this happened. Zac completely shone in this movie. Though the whole cast was great and did an excellent job, Zac for sure was the star and completely proved he can carry a movie.
My favorite part was the court scene. I knew Zac had that in him and I was so happy for that sweet, touching little scene. They’re always my favorite in movies like this, but Zac outdid himself. I just loved it.
To top the night off I finally found the Interview magazine! haha I swear they must have just brought this issue in because I have never seen it anywhere before. Not that I’m complaining.
April 18th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
^^ i was like where is she with her review?? yay i’m so glad you and your son enjoyed it–though i’m sure he went unwillingly! On Audrey’s and I second viewing at the Grove last night guess who happened to drop by without us knowing??? That’s right ZAC EFRON!! Mmmmmm hmmmmm. No comment!
April 18th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Shut Up!!! And what do you mean ‘no comment’?? Comment please!! Did he speak, did he stay for the show, what was he wearing, what did his hair look like?? Details please.
Actually, my son wanted to see this movie if you can believe it. He could have stayed home, but he wanted to come and hang with the girls I guess. haha He was dying laughing through it though. He really liked it.
Zac Efron?? I still can’t get over that. Are you sure it was actually him??
April 18th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Unfortunately, I couldn’t see it yesterday but I saw it today and it was truly amazing! I’m proud to see Zac in a sort of mature role. There were several curse words but I guess that just added to the humor.
At the near ending, when Matthem Perry was present again, I said, “Dang. Mr. Efron is gone.”
I was positive that there were only going to be girls in the theater, but to my surprise, there were 18-year-old boys and dads and everything! When Zac danced along with the cheerleaders, my friends and I were screaming! When Zac got slapped (who knows how many times!), I threw a fit! Zac went over-the-top when he got emotional during the scene at court and it had me convinced that he was the part of a hudband/dad.
Everyone was enjoying the movie and I still can’t believe Zac was in the movie. It’s very hard to see HSM Zac gone. I was highly impressed with his acting skills and it was beyond my expectations! The whole cast truly worked hard to make this movie so great and I love the dedication they put! I have to say, Sterling Knight and Tom Lennon were some of the best characters!
I didn’t even know I was going to laugh so much! I loved it. Hopefully, Zac’s future projects are just as great.
April 18th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
Sue noooooo. We didn’t know until after!!! Hence my disgust hence no comment!!!
April 18th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
Oh Dee, that bites!! I totally misread your post. I thought you meant it was like a super surprise, not that you missed him.
Man, how disappointing. If only he knew that two people who run such a great site to honor him were within the same complex. So close, but yet so far.
BTW…I love that you guys went and saw it again last night. I’m actually dying to go see it again too, but it might have to wait a few days.
Kristina, the movie exceeded my expectations too and I was going in with pretty high expectations to begin with! haha I honestly just loved it and can’t get over how funny Zac is and how genuine his performance came across. I too was so sad to see Zac disappear at the end of the movie. Chandler was always my favorite ‘friend’, but I was like nooooooo, I don’t want Matthew Perry. I was not ready for Zac to leave the screen.
April 18th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
I saw this movie today and i can’t explain how i proud i am of Zac. he truly outshone everyone and yes I am a little biased but he lit up the screen. I loved, loved Tom in his role though too! He was effing hilarious! The fight scene had to be one of my favs. Michelle, love her, was awesome, the bedroom scene had me cringing and laughing all at the same time. And the consoling scene was awesome, my mom shed a tear in that one! I have to say that apart from, “Sweet baby Jesus” the court scene was my absolute fav scene. The emotional that ran across his face during that made me cry, literally. It was just so damn sweet. So, props to Efron as he totally scored with this movie and i can see many more number one movies in his future.
Aw, Dee, that sucks! Damn Efron for missing y’all! It was super sweet of him to drop by like that though!
April 18th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Hey Everyone,
Just got back from my third showing of the movie! Went Friday nite with Taylor, Matinee today with the family (My husband and Skyler really liked this movie) and again tonight with Taylor and some friends. I loved all the parts everyone has mentioned but here are a few of mine…the scene were Mike schools Stan in the cafeteria, his basketball moves are phenomenal – loved health class – and of course the dance scene with he and Scarlett.
Zac never ceases to amaze me with his abilities to produce emotions – facially, physically, emotionally. He puts everything he has into the character he portrays and it shines on screen. He should be very proud of his work, his fans are certainly proud of him! Excellent job Zac!
April 18th, 2009 at 11:30 pm
I’ve been quoting the movie all day;
“We are all in such great shape!”
“Do you dance with all your friend’s moms?” “Pretty much.”
“Why are you burping?”
“Carnations? What a douchebag.”
“I mean, your pants are really tight!”
…and I could go on and on. Loved it all.
April 19th, 2009 at 2:18 am
Completly agree with ALL of you! The movie was FANTSATIC and i ant believe we got it first here in australia! I saw it twice in the first two days it was out…..SO GOOD!
My fav parts were when he cried…i was mesmerized….you could have heard a pin drop in the cinema it was that quite! And when he was in the bedroom with his ‘daughter’ and hes like ‘I’m in love….ive been in love with the same girl since i was 17′! I couldn’t help but think it was refering to not just in the movie but outside too! I know totally stupid but i couldnt help it! <3
Great movie!
xx
April 19th, 2009 at 5:56 am
I used ‘I don’t care’ with my mum today but she hasn’t seen the movie and she got angry at me for being a rude little I won’t tell you the rest of what she said. Then I had to backtrack and explain and it was this whole long winded thing lol.
April 19th, 2009 at 6:53 am
How bout this one….”you can plunder my dungeon any time” “I’ll bring my long bow” I was rolling.
April 19th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Amazing. I absoloutley loved it. I went to see it today with my sister. “Merlin the Gerlin” haha loved that one. My favourite scene was where Zac is in the caferteria with Alex and he starts giving Stan a lecture kind of thing where he does that thing, making three points about Stan. Ha and when hes in physical ed and he starts going on about making love and all the girls are putting their condoms back like we don’t need these lol. I cried when he is in court with Scarlett and hes reading that leeter and he starts crying. Then he leaves and she reads the letter and it’s just directions. I cried at the end too. It was absoloutley hilarious. LMAO. Ned was so funny. It will joining HSM3 in my dvd collection. Loved it. Zac was great. Oh and when he got slapped like nine times. PMSL.
April 19th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
Kim- Good one, haha! Dee just reminded me of another good one; “Bedazzled with rhinestones.
April 19th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
Yay! I finally got to see this movie today and I loved it! Zac was so fantastic, I was also sad to see him leave the screen.
Oh, and were there any other Ohio girls who nearly squealed at the possibility of seeing Zac in an Ohio State b-ball uniform? The OSU mention at the end totally made my day!
I’m also really looking forward to the DVD, I hope there is a commentary with Zac, Tom, and possibly Adam Shankman.
April 19th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
Lalala!!!! OMG!!!! I was giddy during that part!!! OSU, has a kick ass bball team and I have no idea why he would want to go to Syracruse like they mentioned in the first part of the movie! no offense! haha In other words, yes I was excited to see that mention!
Oh, BTW Z and V are at the Laker game, on ABC right now! Pics on jj too
April 19th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
OMG my fave scene was when he called out that bully in the cafeteria! Closely followed by the courtroom scene…I can’t believe he’s still hot when crying.
Definitely going to see it again! =)
April 19th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
At Lakers game:
http://justjared.buzznet.com/2009/04/19/300432azac-efron-vanessa-hudgens-lakers/
random observation, where did the ‘sightings’ bar on the left side go?
April 19th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Seen it twice, both times I laughed hysterically!! Tom was completely amazing! But Zac was just unbelievable! It really was a huge transition but still good for the fans! I loved it!
Has anyone else switched ‘oh my god’ for ‘sweet baby Jesus’ ? Cos I totally have!! So many hilarious quotes from this moviecand so little brain memory.
Can’t wait for the DVD,some bloopers would be fantastic!!
Jenna- I was thinking the same thing. Those pictures are adorable btw,I love the one where he’s rubbing her ankle, how cute!
April 19th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
I never thought in my life that I would say Zac Efron and pet peeve in the same sentence, but the time has come. Take off the sunglasses Efron, you’re inside!! haha Man. I’m not saying he doesn’t look as hot as all get out in those pics, but come on now, dude. Seriously. Jane, that pic is my fav too. It’s such a cute couple-y thing to do.
I love the idea of some bloopers for this movie. There’s got to be a tonne, especially from the fight scene and the cafeteria scene. There’s no way Zac perfected all those hot bball moves in one take.
Lalala–I’m hoping with ya for a commentary. Fingers crossed!
April 19th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
Jenna- It’s no longer a feature on the site.
April 19th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
Just home from seeing it!
Wow. No words to describe it.
Definitely worth the wait.
Was able to get a few new Zac-converts. Haha.
Favorite part was definitely the cafeteria scene…although the courtroom is a close second, for sure.
“Don’t respect me!”
April 19th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
Audrey, why did you guys remove the feature?
April 19th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
Lalala, I live in Ohio…the entire theater went nuts at the Ohio State mention! The movie was fantastice! I was laughing the whole time! Loved the cafeteria scene! Of course the courtroom scene brought tears to my eyes…so touching! I cannot wait to see this movie again! Zac did an amazing job! I’m so looking forward to his career…
April 19th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
Hey, don’t know if anyone has posted this, there’s an article in Time about Zac…
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1891757-1,00.html
It’s not particularly riveting or anything new; there isn’t a new interview but… it’s Time.
April 19th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
I really liked the article. Especially the Tom Hanks part. And it’s in the magazine too so I was so psyched to come home on Saturday and see Zaccy in the top corner with the headline..This guy might just be a movie star or something like that!!
April 19th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
he was absolutely amazinggg.
daYUMMM!
April 23rd, 2009 at 9:28 pm
I went to see the movie again today. I went with someone who has never seen a Zac Efron movie and she loved it! She thought Zac did an amazing job and was so beilievable in the role. I hope it doesn’t take too long to get it out on DVD.
