New Film Projects
According to THR News, Zac Efron will be starring and exec-producing in a new spy thriller called Fire.
Universal is on “Fire.” The studio has picked up the rights to the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis. Zac Efron is attached to star and will exec produce with his manager, Jason Barrett. Neal Moritz is producing with David Engel of Circle of Confusion, the company that reps Bendis.
Written and drawn by Bendis before he went on to become one of Marvel Comics’ top writers, the story centers on a college student who is inducted into a special CIA project that tests whether training ordinary citizens to be agents can be successful. Bendis is also on board to write the adaptation.
Check out a brief synopsis of the plot HERE and leave your thoughts about this new movie role in the comments!
Also, this from Deadline Hollywood indicates another film project in the pipeline:
Efron has made a separate deal at Warner Bros to star in a Back To The Future-like film that melds two projects. One’s a pitch from writers Tim Calpin and Kevin Jakubowski, and the other is a WB project called Algorithm that the studio was already developing as a directing vehicle for Nick Stoller, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall director who just wrapped Get Him To The Greek. Mark Gordon and Bryan Zuriff are producing and Alan Riche is exec producer along with Efron and Barrett.
Leave your comments about both movie roles in the comments below! We’d also love to hear what other roles you think would be great for Zac!

So like, I DIED when I heard this earlier today. From what I’ve read speculations of across the fandom it seems relatively legitimate – not something immediately on the horizon but most likely a definite check box in the ‘in development’ pile. As far as Zac leaping into something in this field, plot wise, it makes sense.
Will be interested to see if Mr. Bendis responds to the Tweet I saw you make
