D Films has picked up The Paperboy, the upcoming film fromPrecious director Lee Daniels that stars Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey and John Cusack.

The indie distributor acquired the exclusive Canadian rights in all media to the drama about two brothers investigating a case involving a death row inmate from Millennium Films.

The Paperboy, which is slated for a release this year, is produced by Daniels, Nu Image, Inc./Millennium Films and Benaroya Pictures.

We are also hearing that director Lee Daniels is aiming for a November 2012 release for the movie nationwide – our fingers are firmly crossed!

A first look at The Paperboy film poster has been released by Millenium Films (via Zac_E), along with a full movie synopsis:

“A directionless young man helps his reporter brother investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row, and in the process, falls for the woman whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence.”

The movie stars Zac alongside Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman and is directed by Lee Daniels. The release date is currently unknown.

The film stars Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Betty White, Ed Helms and Danny DeVito in its title roles and will be released worldwide in 3D on March 2nd 2012.

Zac’s latest movie has wrapped in Illinois! The Black Bear Pictures Facebook Page (production company for the film) posted earlier this week:

Andy Hillenburg, the President of Rockingham Speedway, tweeted the above photograph to promote the next NASCAR season. It seems that Zac actually participated in a race over the weekend which is really exciting! Check out the photo in the ZacE Gallery!

Now Zac can relax (after filming constantly since July) before New Year’s Eve promotion kicks in next month. We’re glad that he finally gets some downtime after so much work!

The list of candidates for the 2012 People’s Choice Awards has been released and its up to the fans to pick who is nominated. This year, Zac is in the “Favourite Movie Star Under 25 Presented by Moviefone” Category (Although visitors may enter Zac’s name into other appropriate categories such as ‘Favourite Movie Actor’).

Voting is open until November 8th and the top five in each category will then be selected as nominees. Zac won the award last year (Check out his speech HERE!), so lets try and get him to win again in 2012!
